Arc of Tippecanoe County gives back

Published : Friday, 18 Nov 2011, 10:41 PM EST
LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - A group who receives a lot of community support every year gave some of it back Friday night.

More than 200 people strutted their stuff on the dance floor at the Arc of Tippecanoe County's Holiday Dinner Dance. Arc serves people who have developmental disabilities.

It's the second year for the dinner dance which is a combined celebration of Thanksgiving and Christmas.

If you wanted to come, you didn't need a ticket. But you did need to bring a canned good to donate to the Food Finder's Food bank.

"The goal tonight is to give thanks and give back to the community for all the things the community does for the Arc," said Milissa Lake O'Hern, Executive Director for the Arc of Tippecanoe County.

O'Hern said one of Arc's goals is to encourage adults with developmental disabilities to get involved with community and to give back. Of course, having fun is also important.
